A CLEVELEYS off licence boss has lost his permit to sell alcohol.
Sinnathamby Sritharan, of the Wine Cellar, Cleveleys, had his licence revoked by Wyre Council.
It comes after the Rossall Road shopkeeper was found to have breached a number of licensing conditions on 19 visits from council officers since October last year.
These included selling alcohol without a licence holder present, failing to ask customers for identification, and selling to a minor.
Following evidence from the police and the premises’ licence holder, members made the decision based on “the serious nature of the offences and a lack of robust management at the store”.
Coun Michael Vincent, chairman of the licensing committee, said: “This should send out a clear message license breaches will not be tolerated, particularly selling alcohol to under 18s. “
Licensing officer, PC Tracy Potts added: “Staff in premises which sell alcohol have a responsibility to adhere to the conditions of their licences and to ensure that sales are not being made to children.
Stalmine Food & Drink, on Halgate Lane, had its off sales licence suspended for two weeks.
Police had asked Wyre Council’s licensing committee for a review of the licence earlier this year after alcohol was sold to under 18s on two separate occasions.
An original ban of three months was reduced on appeal by magistrates as the licensee has since met a number of previously agreed conditions.
