The 35-year-old, who starred as TV’s Robin Hood, successfully asked for a court order against him to be revoked.

The order, making him do 80 hours unpaid work for the community and 10 hours rehabilitation with the probation service, was imposed in October last year by York Magistrates.

It followed an incident at the Mount Royale Hotel in York in the early hours of the morning during which he rowed with and then assaulted the hotel’s night porter, who was in his 60s., the court heard.

Armstrong of Central Beach, Lytham, was filming in York alongside Downton Abbey’s Joanne Froggatt for the TV mini series Dark Angel. Armstrong had to pay his victim £345 compensation.

His application to revoke the order was heard by Blackpool Magistrates, who were told it was his third alcohol related conviction.

They were told that he had done his unpaid work-as a gardener and grass cutting and undertaken drink counselling.
