Councillors Paul Treece Birch, Lorraine Beavers, Christine Smith and Emma Anderton celebrate news that Fleetwood is to get exciting new attractions.

The countdown has begun to the free Dizzy Heights festival on Fleetwood promenade next weekend.

A heady mix of comedy, music, high diving and a world record attempt will take place, alongside such lofty activities as zip wire rides and a climbing wall.

Everyone is invited to the seafront to join in free fun and celebrate Fleetwood’s planned £1.5m of improvements along the promenade, including a new skate park and splash pool.

The fun event takes place on Saturday May 24, from noon to 5pm, and the running order for the five-hour spectacle is now complete.

One highlight will be a display by La Quebrada, the Mexican high-diving company who caused a splash on Britain’s Got Talent.

They intend to attempt a world record towards the end of the event, at around 4.30pm.

There will be live performances from local bands The People and Hooker.

The event will also
include a colourful parade of fools and Bernie Bennett’s tightrope show.

Details of the full programme will be published in next week’s Weekly News.
