Proposals to enable a Poulton community group to continue operating from its usual haunt have been put forward.

The Teanlowe 60+ group will continue to occupy the Teanlowe Community Centre on Queensway, where it has resided since 1988, and will begin paying subsided rent alongside existing running costs.

Wyre Council has been looking to improve the financial performance of the under-used property in light of significant reductions in government funding.

Wyre councillor Alan Vincent, cabinet member with responsibility for asset management, said: “I’m pleased we’ve been able to offer a solution that enables the group to continue providing their service from the building and at the same time improves the financial position of the council.”
