Fleetwood’s Marine Hall pays homage to one of the greats of country music this Saturday evening.
A Celebration of John Denver will take music fans on a magical journey through the musical career of the late American star.
Denver was just 53 years old when his twin-engine plane crashed into the sea off the Californian coast in October 1997.
But his music and lyrics live on through the tribute show, ‘A Celebration of John Denver’.
Performer Wayne Denton ‘inhabits the spirit’ of John Denver and show organisers say the production transports the audience back to a time when country music filled the airwaves of every radio station around the globe.
Wayne said: “Despite being an entertainer and winning New Faces as a vocalist in my own right, it was always the music of John Denver which was my first passion.
“Getting to perform this show all over the country is a dream for me.”
While Wayne performs in the role of his idol, the show features backing by top country musicians along with video footage.
Wayne will sing all the popular hits such as Annie’s Song, Leaving on a Jet Plane, Rocky Mountain High and Take Me Home Country Roads and many others.
One of the first artists to sell more than 10 million copies for a ‘Greatest Hits’ album. in 1973, John Denver enjoyed success all over the world.
He released more than 300 songs and penned some of American folk rock’s most memorable hits
Tickets cost £16.50 for adults and £15 for senior citizens.
There is also a special “buy one, get one free” offer.
The show begins at 7.30pm.
