The town’s school children are getting on board with efforts to enter Fleetwood in this year’s North West in Bloom competition.

Organisers met for their latest meeting to discuss the next stage of preparations.

Coun John Warnock, who is steering the organising committee said plans are
gathering pace nicely.

He said: “It was a good meeting.

“We will be producing a brochure which explains about our entry to give to the judges when they come for a tour of the town.

“Fleetwood schools will hopefully be helping to plant up the Pocket Park and Monument Corner opposite the Mount Hotel with help from Fleetwood Rotary Club.

“Having local schoolchildren involved will go a long way in our bid for an award, as it shows a community involvement which is part of the criteria we have to meet.”

The project will be funded partly by grants and council contributions but the organisers are also looking into possibly securing additional sponsorship.

The judges will be in town in July and August.
