The Mayor of Wyre Councillor Terry Lees joined Emmerdale soapstars in Fleetwood to raise funds for the Prince’s Trust - and expressed his delight at the enthusiasm showed by those involved with the Trust.
The event at Fleetwood Rugby and Cricket Clubs on Saturday raised £1,730 for the charity.
Councillor Lees said: “The event has been well supported and I, personally, support the Trust throughout my year has mayor.
“It’s a pleasure to see the enthusiasm shown by those involved with the Prince’s Trust and their work has been rewarded by a successful fundraising day.
“It’s good to see so many youngsters here playing rugby and football here today and generally enjoying themselves.
“The rugby and cricket clubs have both been great hosts for the event.”
Emma Sullivan, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service Prince’s Trust team leader added: “It was great seeing the community coming together and supporting our family day. I’m very pleased we raised £1700 and increased awareness of the work we do with young people.
“The rugby club, cricket club and football club all played their part. The Emmerdale stars were very popular and approachable signing autographs and having photos taken. There are so many people to thank who made the day possible.”
