Cash up for grabs to help Fylde coast groups tackle crime

Community groups are being urged to bid for a share of the cash, being offered by Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw.

Individual grants of up to £2,500 are up for grabs to support grass roots projects that protect vulnerable people or help cut crime, anti-social behaviour or re-offending.

This year sees an extra £25,000 on offer, following the success of a similar initiative last year.

The latest funding comes as Mr Grunshaw revealed the six projects to get a share of a £10,000 Community Action Fund.

Among the successful bidders is South Shore Cricket Club, which will get £2,000 to spend on a 10-week multi-sports community development programme aimed at young people aged 12 to 19 in some of Blackpool’s most deprived areas.

Mr Grunshaw said: “I am committed to working with Lancashire’s communities to support them in making the county a safer and better place to live.”
