Fleetwood Carnival Committee desperately need more help to get the show off the ground next year.

They are calling for new members to help with organising all aspects of staging the annual event – particularly to assist with the Fun Day in the Marine Gardens.

Spokeswoman Ann Hanvey said: “If we do not get more help, the 2017 Carnival may well be cancelled.

“We keep saying this but new members bring new ideas which we need – also more hands make less hard work for all concerned.

“So come on Fleetwood Folk. help us out.”

Help is needed in dealing with road closures, booking bands, rounding up entries from schools and youth organisations in entering floats and the fancy dress sections.

Carnival Day is Saturday, June 17, and meetings are held once a month, although a little bit more frequent nearer the time.

“I am confident that the Fleetwood community will pull together as always and help out,” added Ann.

Fleetwood Carnival is one of the town’s longest and most traditional events.

The event is staged on the third Saturday of June every year with colour floats and walking entries which brings the whole community
together.
