Blackpool and The Fylde College student entrepreneurs launch range of sustainable sauces
A group of entrepreneurial students have cooked up a recipe for success with a new business project.

The Social Sauces student enterprise group has created two jams – sweet chilli and strawberry – which were launched during a recent event at the pop-up bakery at Bispham Campus.
The products went down a storm with students and staff – even receiving high praise from the professional chefs on the B&FC teaching staff.
Programme manager Kathy Seddon said: “I’m extremely proud of the students who have launched the Social Sauces project.
“They have taken the germ of an idea and created a business plan which looked at a variety of aspects including product sourcing, pricing and marketing before creating a product to sell.
“The launch event was then a huge success with all jars selling out in less than an hour.”
The group – led by students Abigail Price and Michaela Fairfax-Ware – priced the jam at £2.50 per jar, or £2 on return of jar to increase the sustainability aspect of thebusiness.
Kathy added: “This project is one which has great potential and can give students vital experience of the various attributes needed to start your own business.”
