Blackpool Electrical Traders (BET) on Poulton Industrial Estate has become the first wholesaler in the Fylde to launch its own range of energy saving LED lighting.

The new Luxlite range has been launched after Blackpool Electrical Traders owner Robert Gamble consistently struggled to find certain types of lighting at the best prices and quality from traditional suppliers.

Robert used feedback from customers to inspire two fact-finding trips to the far east, before finally settling on around 20 new products to launch the Luxlite brand.

The Poulton-based electrical wholesaler is now only of only two suppliers in the UK - including sister business Skelmersdale Electrical Distributors Ltd - to stock the range which features LED flat panel, flood and strip lights.

Robert said,“Ten, maybe even just five, years ago; the idea of a small electrical wholesaler launching its own range of LED lighting would have been fantasy. But today, the internet makes the process much more straightforward. It means we can go anywhere in the world to make sure we get exactly the specifications in our products our customers demand.

“Energy-saving lights are a massive growth area for our business at the moment. People can now buy maintenance-free lights that take less than half of the energy of other lights. And there’s no need to compromise on the quality of the light either.

“Bringing the new range together has been a fascinating challenge for us all. The lights are everything we hoped for. Feedback from customers has been very positive. Which is what it’s all about at the end of the day.

BET have been trading for over 20 years and now employ 10 people. The electrical wholesaler sells everything from consumer units to decorative light fittings.
