Building work is now under way on a brand new pub near Fleetwood docks.

Established brewery Marstons is building the pub/restaurant on land adjacent to Amounderness Way and Herring Arms in Fleetwood, with the prospect of 45 new jobs.

It is hoped the pub will be open for business early next year.

Marstons believe the pub is in an ideal location for residents in the new waterfront homes by developer Redrow, and will also be a draw for other residents in the town.

A Marston’s spokesperson said: “We are excited for our future development in Fleetwood, the pub is set to open early next year.”

The plans are for a family pub and restaurant, catering for up to 180 diners.

There will be a total of 45 new jobs, including hospitality jobs, bar work, chefs and management.

It will also include ample parking and a children’s play area.

The news is a boost for pubgoers in Fleetwood after the loss of The Broadway, Cutty Sark. Gullivers, the Fleetwood Arms, The Ship and even Fleetwood’s oldest pub, The Victoria.
