Spectators gathered in their thousands to enjoy a fun-filled weekend celebrating the very best of British agriculture.

Prize-winning cows, sheep, pigs, and poultry were put on display for all to see at the Great Eccleston Show on Saturday.

Animal-lovers were free to enjoy a range of creature competitions - which included rabbits, budgies, and specially-bred show pigeons - while would-be food critics taste-tested wines, cheeses, chutneys, jams and spices.

He said: “It was a fantastic show. I try to show here every year but this is the first year I have won.

“With a prize like this you can sell breeding stock on the back of it. It’s not just a hobby.

“The winning cow is the one that is most true to type - the cow with no flaws. I’m very happy to have won.”
