Regulars at the Wyre Light pub in Fleetwood hosted their own take on England’s crunch World Cup qualifier when they staged a girls (representing Poland) v boys (England) penalty shoot out inside the popular venue.

Wyre Light party planner Lisa Edwards said: “There was a real buzz about the game so we thought we’d get in on the action early.”
The pub was transformed into a mock football ground, complete with artificial pitch and nets, to stage the competition.
Thankfully, the real life result on Tuesday (England won 2-0 and ensured qualification for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil) did not reflect the rather different outcome at the pub, where the girls beat the boys 3-1.
