THE Year of the Snake was celebrated at Fleetwood Library by children who indulged in a morning of Chinese culture.
Around 20 youngsters who meet for the library’s Board Game Club explored traditional Chinese games while learning about Chinese New Year and its animal signs.
They learned the art of using chopsticks for a game and played a giant snakes and ladders on the wall which they had created themselves.
Ian Williams from Fleetwood Library said: “At least 20 children came along and took part in the activities.
“It was a great success and they really enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year and the Chinese culture.”
The group meets every Saturday from 11am to noon to play traditional board games.
It’s a popular group, showing that children still enjoy the old games as an alternative to more modern technology.
Added Ian: “We are always happy to see new members, it’s a great chance for children to make new friends as well as learning the games.”
