Work to improve the sea defences in Fleetwood has forced the port’s annual firework display to move to a new home.

Preparatory investigations are underway for the £65m three-year project to bolster the sea wall between the site of Rossall hospital and Fleetwood Golf Club.

As a result, the firework display will take place in the Marine Hall gardens, on the Esplanade, instead of Rossall School field.

The free public spectacle is now in its fifth year and will be held on Tuesday, November 5.

The gates will open at 5.30pm, with live music from The Jepps and Belvadere beginning at 6pm and the fireworks kicking off at 7.30pm.
