Two security guards were kicked and punched by two attackers as they filled a cash machine at a shop in Lancashire.
The pair, in a Group 4 Securicor van, pulled up at the spar in Slyne Road, Lancaster, to restock the cashpoint.

They were attacked from behind by three men who police say punched and kicked the two men to the ground.

The offenders, one of whom was armed with a knife, took three cash boxes. One of the guards is still in hospital with severe bruising.

His colleague was released after treatment for minor injuries.

Det Insp Simon Hills, of Lancashire police, said: "We would urge anybody who may have noticed anything suspicious around the time of the robbery on Slyne Road to get in touch with the police.

"We would also like to speak to anybody who may have noticed a white transit van in the area, either before or after the robbery, because we believe it may be connected to the incident."
