A FAVOURITE to replace Stave Mclaren as England manager has ruled himself out.
Sam Allardyce has ruled himself out of the running to become the next England manager fater Mclared was sacked earlier today.

However, former AC Milan and Real Madrid manager, Fabio Capello and Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp have thrown their name into the mix.

The news comes just a few hours after Steve Mclaren declared todays as the 'saddest day of his career.'

Speaking in a press conference, Mclaren said that today was a low point of his career but understood the reason behind the FA's decision.

Mclaren was told of his dismissal at 10.30am when FA supremo Brian Barwick contacted him this morning.

It came less than 4 hours after England failed to qualify for Euro 2008 next summer after loosing 3-2 to Croatia.

Mclaren said: ""Eighteen months ago was the proudest day of my career and I was honoured to be the England head coach and for 18 months I've enjoyed every minute.
"It is a sad day to have been relieved of my duties but I understand the decision of the FA.
"I have huge disappointment for the nation and fans. But I will learn from my failure,"
