ACCIDENT investigators are looking into a fatal accident on the M55 motorway.
Police have not named a 31-year-old male driver - who died after his car came off the M55 motorway and crashed into a field.

Police believe the deceased died after the car he was driving left the eastbound carriageway just past junction three near Treales.

The accident happened just before 9am this morning (Sunday).

Police said the driver's black Ford Escort left the carriageway and crashed into fencing before overturning in a field.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The deceased is not thought to be from the Fylde coast.

The motorway was closed after the accident. Two lanes were re-opened just before 10am. The final lane of the motorway was reopened at noon.

There were not believed to be any other vehicles involved.
