ANOTHER festival success for Fleetwood!
Organisers of the annual Fleetwood Music and Arts Festival are celebrating after the latest event proved a big hit.

It was staged over two weekends in several venues across the town and gave entrants a chance to compete in choral, solo singing, in
strumental and acting classes.

Local winners were among those from all over the North of England taking part.

Eventual winner in the piano classes was Peter Wild, from Poulton.

Shakespeare School swept the board in their competitions winning the Junior Choirs, Choral Speaking and, at the first time of entry, their Concert Orchestra won the Junior Music Making Class.

Another Fleetwood competitor who did particularly well was Chloe Neave. She won several of her classes and the Championship Acting class for under-11 year olds. She also won the special award from Onward Theatre Group for Acting.

A Fleetwood competitor, who has performed at the festival for many years, also received her just rewards.

Mary Duck, in addition to winning several classes, was given the special awards of a Festival Certificate for the highest marks amongst the adult competitors in Speech and Drama and also the Fleetwood Chamber of Trade Trophy.

A festival spokesman commented: “We were delighted with the way the event went. Our aim is to promote the performing arts and the festival did just that.”
