RESIDENTS in Fleetwood have complained that the group of drinkers known as the 'Lighthouse Family' have returned to their seafront haunt.
The unwelcome boozers gained their name from their spot at the Lower Lighthouse, where they have regularly met up to drink booze in the open air.

This has led to many complaints from local residents about how they have spoilt one of the town's most picturesque areas on the seafront.

The introduction of the town's on-street drinks ban last month appeared to have swept them away.

But on Bank Holiday Monday, they were apparently back.

John Stuart, of Poulton Road, said: "They were back there, as bold as brass, but trying to hide their drinks."

Another Fleetwood resident, who was there with her young family but did not wish to be named, complained: "They were drinking from containers hidden inside carrier bags, but it was obvious what they were doing.

"The drinks ban is a good idea, but it must be enforced in that area in particular. It just looks so bad seeing them there at a prime tourist spot."

I regularly park up and take my Grandkids on the beach near the Lighthouse and the number of times I have watched the drinkers drag them selves of their backsides and stagger round to the seaward/beach side of the light house just to urinate in the shelter infuriates me. Every time I see it happen in full view of any man, woman or child that happens bye I swear could walk up to them and knock them out cold. Why in this day and age are preverts like these people allowed to expose them selves to decent people who are just out for a walk. On occasions I have seen rivers of urine flowing towards the beach from the Lighthouse and then seen little children innocently walking through it. Why is it allowed to continue in a modern policed society. I think they are as bad as peodaphiles in some sense.

These people are actualy sick and need medical help for a catologue of ailments including depression and alcoholism. Unfortunatley, this is not recognised and the inaction of help from council and local government sources mean no positive steps are taken and none will be! Is this the same in Cleveleys or Poulton...or is there steps are action in place?

WBC = Wyre backs Cleveleys!
