ROADWORKS at the centre of Fleetwood's main industrial area are killing trade for businesses.
An businesses now fear that a complete closure of Copse Road, whilst emergency repairs to the road are done, could cause severe problems.
Copse Road is closed to traffic entering at the junction with Denham Way, but at the moment, traffic can leave.
However the other end of Copse Road is one way only, totraffic entering from Amounderness Way.
And this is what traders are concerned about if the road is closed off completely.
Nicky Rowland, manager of A&S Tiles based in Henderson Way said: "We've been told that a sewer underneath the road has collapsed and major repairs need to be done.
"If we can't get out of Copse Road at Denham Way, we're stuck, because the other end of the road is one-way only.
"It's already causing our customers huge problems and trade is struggling as a direct result.
"The road has been closed partly since July and there's no clear diversion in place which is causing confusion.
"It's killing us, we are having real problems with it."
A spokesperson said: "Unitied Utilities, which wants to carry out the work, is awaiting approval from the highways department to allow a two way traffic flow at the junction of Amounderness Way.
"We are not sure how long the repairs will take and because Amounderness Way is a trunk road, permission from the highways department to open the junction will be needed."
