BURGLARS mounted a carefully planned raid at an address in Fleetwood and stole two specialist motorbikes.
Now Fleetwood police are appealing to the public in a bid to track down the machines, valued together at £1,800.
The break-in took place at a rear garden garage on Mount Street between Wednesday, September 24 and Thursday, September 25.
Officer
s believe the thieves targeted the bikes rather than simply coming across them during an opportunist burglary.
Sgt Steve Bell of Fleetwood Police said: “The intruders knew exactly what they were doing.
“They climbed over the rear gate, forced their way into the shed and cut through two large and heavy chains to release the bikes.
“We suspect that someone in the Fleetwood area may have seen these bikes and made a concerted effort to take them.”
The owner of the bikes, who did not wish to be named, said: “I am obviously bitterly upset that someone has come onto my property and taken both machines.
“I have spent a lot of time saving up for them and now they have gone. They were my pride and joy.
“Because they were off-road bikes neither of them were insured, so that is an extra blow.”
He added: “It is hard to think how I could have made them more secure, short of building a steel-enforced bunker in my garden.”
One of the bikes was a blue and yellow Sherco 250 trials bike valued at £1,000. It features a number 7 on the front of the handbars.
The other machine was a fluorescent green Kawosaki KX 125, a £800 motocross bike.
