Published Date: 07 August 2008
POWER has been restored to Fleetwood after a power cut left around 580 Fleetwood homes and businesses without electricity.
Power went off at around 8.25am on Thursday and is still to be put back on.
It left many homes and businesses without power, including our very own Weekly News Office on Lord Street.
A spokesperson for United Utilities said that the cut had been caused by a break in at an electricty substation and that police are looking into the incident.

I have just called the Customer Care at United Utilities (0845 3093003) and they say if Power was off for at least 18 hours then we will get £50 compensation automatically by cheque in the next 10-14 days. By my calculations - the power cut was from 03:05 to around 9:30 last night, thats 18.5 hours and then some more as it went off again during the night. Watch this space....
