DOCUMENTS relating to a famous monument in Yorkshire are believed to be loc-ated somewhere in Cleveleys.
The Wainhouse Tower, which dominates the landscape of Halifax, is perhaps the most famous creation of eccentric Victorian John Edward Wainhouse.
Ben Pearce, a member of the Halifax Civic Trust, has been researching a number of buildings that Wainhouse had constructed and he believes he is close to tracking down the original elevation plans of the tower.
He said: “These documents apparently give an insight into the way the tower was constructed, which, in its day, was a great architectural achievement as the masons used mortise and tenon style joints rather than mortar.
“It would be very useful for our town surveyors if these plans could be viewed. I am equally as interested in obtaining copies for my website.
“I know that the plans once resided with a Mr Buckley of Cleveleys and, as I understand it, he then passed them onto his grandson who I believe is a retired headmaster.”
