THERE was a full house for the recent Songs of Praise Service, sponsored by Fleetwood Churches Together.
For a second year, the Marine Hall was the setting for an audience of several hundred people, including the Deputy Mayor of Wyre, Coun Tom Balmaine.
They had gathered to enjoy the singing of well-known traditional hymns such as 'Guide Me O Thou Gr
eat Redeemer', 'Great Is Thy Faithfulness' and a great favourite in the town 'Eternal Father'.
A number of popular worship songs brought variety to the proceedings.
Thornton Cleveleys brass band accompanied throughout and also presented a musical interlude comprising an American Trilogy and The Old Rugged Cross.
The compere for the evening, Colin Noble, who, with wife Susan, performed the negro spiritual 'Deep River' and the eighty -strong choir he'd assembled from the churches led the community singing.
David Stead, Chairman of Fleetwood Churches Together, gave a vote of thanks to the many who had helped to make the evening a success before the concert closed with a rousing 'I'll Go In the Strength of the Lord'.
The evening’s collection raised £700 to be shared between the Fishermans Mission and the work of Fleetwood Churches Together.
