SOME of the big issues affecting Fleetwood are up for public discussion next week.
The Action For Fleetwood Group meets next Tuesday (October 21) at the Senior Citizens Centre on Warrenhurst Road, Fleetwood, beginning at 7pm.
On the agenda are the proposed Fleetwood Town Council, the smells issue, the Fleetwood Masterplan, the barrage scheme and the town's intended new CCTV system.
Tom Norton, chairman of the Action Group, said: "The Action for Fleetwood Group has been very effective since its formation some 12 months ago.
"There is clearly a need to pull together all the concerns of Fleetwood people on a range of proposals for the town.
"Individually it is difficult to have any real impact on decisions but an action group will be listened to and have more power to influence the outcomes.
"We can make a difference if we work together by taking action not just talking and complaining. Please make every effort to attend this meeting."
On the night there will be an update on the progress of trying to set up the Fleetwood Town Council.
Regarding the smells problem, the latest situation will be explained by representatives on the United Utilities Community Committee, including what actions can be taken to stop the smell. Progress over compensation claims will also be discussed.
There willl be an update on Fleetwood Masteplan and the town's forthcoming CCTV scheme, and Edward Greenwood and Bob Long of the FREE 2008 group will discuss their ambitious proposals for a Wyre barrage scheme.
