A THORNTON health worker has been shortlisted for a major award.
Andrea Doherty, who is the NHS North Lancashire manager for end of life care is one of the finalists for this year’s North West Health and Social Care Awards.
She has been shortlisted for her work to improve the care and support given to care home
residents and their families. Through the project, educational events were held to help improve communications between care home staff and residents and families, as well as medical training.
Andrea has been nominated in the Adopt, Adapt and Improve Award category.
Ian Cumming, chief executive of NHS North Lancashire, says: “We’re delighted that these projects have been shortlisted. We’ve got our fingers crossed now for the awards in June and I really hope they both receive the full recognition they deserve.
“The teams involved in both submissions have worked very hard to bring innovative and cost effective treatments to our patients and have been real success stories.”
The winners will be announced at a ceremony on June 3 at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool.
Successful winners of the North West awards will then be entered into the national finals in London.
