Funfair heads for Fleetwood

THIS way, folks, for all the fun of the fair!
Silcocks Fair opens on Wednesday and will be in town until Sunday.
The traditional attraction is setting up at the sunken carpark, opposite the New Boston Hotel.
It is the second year the fair has been in this seafront location, having moved away from its former camp at Fleetwood Memorial Park for practical reasons.
Fair boss Arthur, now aged 60, says the Warrington-based family attraction has been coming to Fleetwood for around 100 years.
But he admits it has been a tough trading year.
The "credit crunch" has meant that the public has less spare cash to spend, and leisure businesses are among those feeling the pinch.
As a result Arthur is offering his fairground rides at a knockdown £1.50 a go.
He says: "We're in a recession and there is no getting away from it.
"But we've offering people a good deal so hopefully they will still come along.
"I love coming to Fleetwood and the council and the police are always very helpful to me."
The fair still features traditional rides like the waltzer, the Twister and candy floss stalls, but Arthur is adding new attractions all the time.
The fair will be operating from 1pm until 8pm each day.
