Drug addicts risk health of public

DRUG addicts are putting people's health at risk in Fleetwood by dumping used needles into normal street bins, says a Wyre Borough street cleaner.
The refuse collector, who did not wish to be named, is urging residents to be careful when putting their hand into street bins on Lord Street and North Albert Street.
And he called on drug users to take their dirty syringes to the needle exchange facility on Lord Street instead of ditching them where they could harm the public.
Holding up two needles which he had just pulled out of a bin, he said: "This is what we have to put up with on a fairly regular basis now, particularly on North Albert Street.
"If members of the public decided to put their hand into the bin to make sure they are throwing their item in properly, they could be in danger of getting a needle in their hand.
"It annoys me especially because there is a needle exchange place just down the road, so there is no excuse."
Fleetwood has two needle exchange facilities which allow drug users to dispose of old needles and obtain clean ones.
The facilities are based at the CMPS Warburton pharmacist on Lord Street and at Albert Wilde's Chemist at the West View Health Village.
