A DATE has been set for the switch on of Fleetwood's Christmas lights as the fundraising continues.
Saturday, November 18, will be the day the town gets lit up by festive decorations for the first time in two years.
More details are yet to be revealed about the switch on event and in the run up to it the fundraising is continuing.
Fleetwood Fes
tive Lights Fund Committee has recently held two successful fundraising events - a gig and a halloween party.
The money from these events is still being counted and the committee have lots of people they wish to thank.
They are grateful to Fleetwood Sports College, Velocity, Dark Horse, the volunteers, the police and the pupils who helped make the gig on October 13 a big success.
A big thank you also to all the children and adults who supported the Halloween Party at the Senior Citizens Hall, Warrenhurst Road, on October 31.
Locla businesses and groups are also doing their bit and and Iceland, Fleetwood, has contributed £1,000 to the fund.
Manager Dave Cardwell presented the cheque to Ellen Bater, President of Fleetwood Festive Lights fund.
Iceland's Social fund committee would like to thank all their customers and friends who donated money and bought raffle tickets to raise this amount.
They also wish to thank the Lights fund committee for all their hard work and wish them every success in making Fleetwood attractive this Christmas.
Fleetwood Community Association has made a donation to the fund after an agreement at a recent Management board meeting to give £50.
Peggy Whitaker, Chairman of the Association, was pleased it was an unanimous decision and they are looking forward to seeing the town lit up.
The committee has a target of £9,000 which will be added to the £3,000 Wyre Borough Council have pledged.
The money will pay for the erecting, maintaining and dismantling of the display as well the electricity used, public liability insurance and other incidental expenses.
