FLEETWOOD residents are to be consulted over the possibility of a town council being set up.
And if there is seen to be enough support, the council may get the go ahead.

It follows a meeting last week of the Action For Fleetwood Group, which was attended by leading representatives of the national town councils body.

The final decision on the town council being established will be made by Wyre Council, who will consult with Government body the Electoral Commission.

Tom Norton, chairman of the Action For Fleetwood Group, said: "We hope that discussions with Wyre Council can take place in the next two weeks and the collection of supporting signatures to start the ball rolling should start in about three weeks."

The town council will be back on the agenda at the Action For Fleetwood Group for their next public meeting on July 29 at 7pm in the Senior Citizen's Hall on Warrenhurst Road. Also up for discussion will be smells, CCTV and the Fleetwood Masterplan.
