FLEETWOOD'S festival lights committee have given a big "thank-you" to traders and others who have put their weight behind getting the town lit up this Christmas.
After two years of having almost no festive decoration a new fund-raising committee was launched this year and has got a tremendous response from the public.
A committee statement said that there had been amazing support from the public and traders
who had allowed collection points in their premises.
And Councillor Ron Shewan said on behalf of the committee: "Without this generosity the project would have been doomed.
"The outstanding individual donors and contributors certainly made it a more feasible project
"Wyre Borough Council, Freeport, Iceland, Bourne Leisure, Wyre Housing and Asda all helped ensure it happened.
"But many services were rendered to the committee, such as pubs and clubs, schools, local bands, smaller traders, senior citizens clubs.
"There are so many to thank personally."
The committee says it was a team effort from the whole of the town.
Now it is hoped that the amazing feat of Fleetwood Power can be used to such good effect next year.
The campaign came after a change of method by Wyre Council in setting up the Christmas lights funding in Wyre this year.
Instead of offering cash only on the condition that towns match fund it, the council guaranteed them £3,000 each and helped set up committees to raise more.
The scheme has worked, with resounding results.
