THIS lovely piece of trawler memorabilia was brought into the Weekly News and serves as a reminder of a vessel that came to an unfortunate end.
It's a finely drawn picture of the Lord Stanhope and was purchased in a secondhand shop in Blackpool for just £2. Clearly someone in Blackpool cares little for trawling history.

The anonymous purchaser brought it in with the hope that it could be passed on to someone who has a link with the ship.

He said: "It only cost me £2 but my wife won't let me put it on the wall.

"She says I've got too many pictures up already!"

The picture is signed: T Hobbs 2003.

Lord Stanhope was built in 1939 and spent much of her career in Hull, punctuated by anti-submarine work during the war.

She worked from Fleetwood from 1963 but ran aground on the south coast of Iceland that same year and was eventually a complete loss.

Who T Hobbs was and whether there is a story behind the picture, a reader may be able to let us know.
