FLEETWOOD Town's wonder scorer Jamie Milligan has become an internet sensation.
Not only did Milligan's wonder goal win Fleetwood's game against Farsley Celtic – it has now attracted more than two-and-a-half million hits on You Tube, making it the most viewed clip in the world this month.
More than 100 comments have been posted with compliments flooding in from not only Europe but Australia, America, New Zealand, Mexico and Canada.
The attention has come as a shock for the 30-year-old footballer, who said: "I'm amazed the video has had this many hits, you'd expect if for a Premier League footballer but maybe not someone from Fleetwood Town.
"I was really pleased with the goal, it was definitely the best of my career.
"I attempted it from a similar distance last year but it hit the cross bar so I was really pleased it went in, it's amazing what you can achieve with your eyes closed.
"It's a shame I can't claim a pound for every time it gets viewed."
Milligan's wonder goal has beaten a sneak peek at boy band JLS's new video, One Shot, the first footage of the Haiti earthquake and the unveiling of the Khalifa Tower, the world's tallest skyscraper to the top spot on You Tube.
The super goal also saw Fleetwood Town go top of the Blue Square North thanks to the final score of 2 -0.
Footage was also featured on Soccer AM, a weekly TV show shown on Sky Sports.
Mickey Mellon, manager of Fleetwood Town said: "Jamie has been going round telling everybody about the video, I wouldn't be surprised if a million of those hits are from him!
"Seriously though, it is a fantastic goal and he deserves all the credit he has got for it.
"It is great for us because it has really put Fleetwood Town on the map with people from all over the world talking about us."
You Tube has been responsible for helping catapult many people to overnight fame.
Singing sensation Susan Boyle – who has received a massive 86 million hits for the video of her first appearance on TV talent show Britain's Got Talent – is now globally famous as SuBo, the small town woman who amazed both the show's judges and a worldwide audience with her rendition of I Dreamed A Dream.
This makes it the second most viewed video of all time after a video called Charlie Bit My Finger, which has drawn more than 154 million hits.
