NICK Rogan has revealed why he and top scorer Adam Warlow make such a potent strike combination for Fleetwood Town.
The duo have been paired up front by manager Micky Mellon four times since Christmas and both have scored in three of those games.
That was the case on Saturday, when Rogan netted his second Town brace and Warlow his 17th goal of the season in the 4-2 home win over Blyth Spartans which preserved Town's three-point lead at the top of Blue Square North.
And Blackpool-born Rogan says the pair complement each other well.
The 26-year-old said: "Adam was tremendous and got the man of the match on Saturday. He brings that bit of quality into front line.
"I like playing with him because I do quite a lot of running. He has a little more craft than I have, so it's good."
Both also scored in the home wins over Vauxhall and Southport at the turn of the year, then drew a blank against Dover as Town bowed out of the FA Trophy, after which Rogan started the next two games on the bench.
After his recall on Saturday, summer signing Rogan's target is to help Town maintain their advantage over title rivals Southport.
He added: " Now we have hit the top we want to stay there, and if I can score a few goals it's a bonus for me personally.
"Saturday's performance wasn't the best we have seen at Highbury but we got the points and we want to get as many points as we can.
"Chances are that Southport and ourselves will both drop points before the end of the season, but we have to make sure we don't drop as many as them.
"But we are top now, so there's a bit of pressure on them to chase us."
*TOWN yesterday completed the remarkable signing of midfielder Anthony Barry from Wrexham.
The 23-year-old, who left troubled Chester on January 12 to join their Blue Square Premier rivals, had been a Wrexham player for only a week when manager Dean Saunders announced Barry had been released after receiving "a substantial offer" from another club.
Barry, who played for Yeovil in Coca-Cola League One, comes into contention for a Town debut at home to Hinckley on Saturday.
Hinckley climbed to third with a 5-3 win at Gloucester last night. They are now ten points behind Town and, like Southport, have two matches in hand.
