A FAMILY caught up in the Christmas Eurostar nightmare have been compensated after their dream trip turned into the holiday from hell.
Steve and Sandra Clarke and their children Chloe, 14, and six-year-old Abby, found themselves trapped at Disneyland Paris when severe weather caused the breakdown of the train service.

Thousands were involved in the chaos as some trains came to halt in the Channel Tunnel.

The family put in a compensation claim after their trip went awry – and the company has now given a full refund.

Coun Clarke, chairman of Fleetwood Town Council (inset), said: "They just sent us an e-mail saying they would put the money in the bank.

"They didn't contact us further.

"They have obviously tried to resolve the problem quite well to have dealt with it in the period of time they have done.

"It wasn't all Eurostar's fault.

"The cash doesn't compensate for the loss and ruin of the holiday but the weather was something they weren't expecting."

The family made a compensation claim and have been reimbursed £940 to cover a £400 taxi fare to Calais, train tickets which were not used and a further £150 compensation.

Coun Clarke added: "On top they offered us return transport on any Eurostar in the next 12 months but I don't know whether I will be taking the offer up."

After the trip just before Christmas, Coun Clarke described their Disneyland holiday as a "holiday from hell".

The compensation cash will be put towards a future family holiday.
