Town stars chip in to help Chloe’s bid

Fleetwood Town juniors helped raise �400 for Chloe New and her Wish 2 Walk appeal.

CHLOE New is all smiles after a further boost to a fund which will hopefully help her walk.

The youngster met Fleetwood Town FC players Junior Brown, who is currently top goal scorer, and goalkeeper Scott Davies when the club’s youth teams handed over £400 from a string of fundraising events.

Fleetwood Town Juniors, some of whom are classmates to Chloe at  Shakespeare Primary School, chose her Wish 2 Walk appeal as their designated charity.

The young footballers were keen to help Chloe’s Wish 2 Walk appeal and have done all sorts to raise the much needed money.

Phil Bowker, who manages the under 10’s said: “We choose a charity every year to help and we give the choice over which one to support to the kids. They were really keen to help Chloe’s appeal so that is what they voted for.

“They’ve done bag packs at Iceland, I took part in the Movember moustache event, which raised £90 and the youngsters from the under nines and under 12s did a Christmas raffle.

“They did really well and we are proud of them all.

“The main club also chipped in with the appeal too.”

Chloe suffers from cerebral palsy and needs a selective rhizotomy operation which will give her the chance to walk unaided. She has to go to a hospital in Missouri because she has not been selected for the surgery in this country.

Chloe’s mum Angela said: “It was wonderful to be contacted by Phil and fantastic that he and his team wanted to help us out.

“It means a lot that local people are really getting behind us and supporting us in this way, and we are very grateful.”

Junior Brown added: “It was a pleasure to meet Chloe.

“She’s a good inspiration for all of us and I hope we can see her and her family at Highbury soon.

“The juniors have done a great job assisting with Chloe’s target.”
