REDDITCH kept Fleetwood goalless at their Impact Arena home in early September, but the hapless strugglers were dismantled in Saturday's Highbury return match as Town went goal crazy.
Micky Mellon's men wasted no time in putting the disappointing midweek home draw with bottom club Harrogate behind them as Alan Wright scored a splendid opener after only 35 seconds.

Two first-half goals by man of the match Jamie McGuire were followed by two in five minutes from Adam Warlow and two in two from substitute Nick Rogan, his first goals for the club.

Mellon made four changes from the midweek stalemate and a new-look strikeforce saw Warlow return from injury to partner Tom Cahill, replacing Gareth Seddon (hamstring) and Mike Wilde.

The midfield was rearranged too, with Steven Torpey and McGuire coming in for Nathan Pond and Sean Clancy, who both joined Wilde on the bench.

Keeper Craig Dootson, making his second Town start after signing on Tuesday, played his part in left-back Wright's rapid-fire opener.
The new Town No.1 claimed Michael Taylor's back header and cleared upfield to launch a fine one-touch move which resulted in a Jamie Mullan cross.

The ball deflected off Andy Ducros into the path of Wright, whose left-foot strike from 25 yards swerved round three defenders and beat the full-stretch Danny Lewis.

The keeper denied Town a quick second when he blocked Cahill's drive after the striker linked up well with Torpey and Warlow in the Redditch box.

And when Jamie Oliver threatened to cook something up for the visitors, centre-half Steve McNulty was quick to stamp his authority on the situation.

Town doubled their lead on 11 minutes, when Warlow neatly touched Taylor's ball into the path of McGuire, who did the rest.

With McNulty and Taylor equally imposing at the back for Town, Wright could venture up the left wing at will and the veteran was unlucky not to capitalise with a second on the half-hour.

Instead it was McGuire who doubled his tally on 31 minutes, meeting Torpey's cross from the left with a diving header on the six-yard line after Mullan had won possession and fed Warlow.

Town were good value for their three-goal half-time lead, with Redditch unable to mount a serious challenge or create any notable chances in front of another bumper Highbury crowd of 1,167.

They had five more goals to cheer after the break, including three in nine minutes around the hour-mark.

Skipper Jamie Milligan scored the first of them on 59 minutes, picking himself up after being fouled by Jack Byrne to curl the free-kick into the top left corner, his fifth goal of the campaign and third in two games.

A double Redditch substitution made little difference as Warlow scored his first four minutes later.

McGuire switched play well to fellow scorer Wright, whose lofted ball from the left was not dealt with by Liam Francis, allowing Warlow to take control and volley home left-footed.

And the striker moved into double figures for the season on 68 minutes with a simple header from inside the six-yard box after Milligan's corner had been nodded on by Rogan.

Rogan had only just come on but the Blackpool-born summer signing from Barrow would proceed to make an even bigger impact.

He opened his Town account on 80 minutes from a lay-off by fellow substitute Clancy.

Clancy also played his part in the final goal too, releasing the onrushing Wright who squared the ball to give Rogan a six-yard tap-in.

With eight minutes remaining the supporters harboured hopes of double figures, but Mellon was highly satisfied to see his side close the game out with their first clean sheet in eight home matches.

Town's reward for their scoring spree is a climb of just one place to sixth, though they have at least one game in hand on all the teams above them.

They take a break from Blue Square North action on Saturday to welcome Andy Preece's FA Cup giantkillers Northwich Victoria to Highbury in the FA Trophy's third qualifying round.

The evergreen Wright will miss the tie as he flies east today for Masters matches in Vietnam and Malaysia.

Town team: Dootson, Beeley, Wright, Taylor, McNulty, McGuire, Mullan, Milligan (capt), Cahill (Rogan 68), Warlow, Torpey (Clancy, 61); subs not used: Wilde, Pond, Hills.
