A pensioner accused of making indecent images of children has made his first appearance at court.

John Smith, 70, of Elswick Place, St Annes, faces three offences of making and one offence of possessing indecent pictures of children, some at the highest level of indecency.

He pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

Prosecutor Andrew Robinson’s application that the case be heard at crown court was not opposed.

Smith was bailed to appear at Preston Crown Court on March 23 by Blackpool magistrates.
