Police patrols are on the street of Blackpool today targeting drivers with no insurance or MOT.

Officers from the Lancashire Roads Policing unit are in the resort checking that drivers have the correct paperwork.

So far, two vehicles stopped - one car and one van - were found to have expired MOT certificates.

Each one was fined £100 and officers are reminding drivers to check they have up-to-date insurance, road tax and MOT before setting out.

The unit tweeted: "One Blackpool driver didn't even know when his MOT was due. Hence he didn't now it had expired. This lesson has cost him £100."
