Cancer support fund-raisers prove they're young at heart
Residents at Croft Court - a Freckleton living complex where over-55s can live independently with the help of on-site care staff - raised more than £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support at a cosy coffee morning on Friday.
Residents aged up to 100-years-old baked cakes and made hot drinks for the social meet-up.

Annette Mellor, scheme manager at Corft Court, said: “She’s very brave. I couldn’t do it. It really suits her though.
“I personally had a target, which I thought I would never reach, of £1,000, and I’m so ecstatic to say that we have raised £1,052.
“Everyone was absolutely happy to attend and everyoneparticipated in donations and baking.
“It was a real show of community spirit.
“Over £400 came from Brenda’s head shave.”

Annette said: “She’s really quite lucid for her age and is still living independently. It’s really amazing.
“It’s a way of keeping everyone involved in the community.
“I was going round begging different businesses for donations and they were all more than willing to help.
“I was overwhelmed when I counted the money because I thought it was beyond reach and when I told everyone they were all happy and clapping. I feel really humbled.”
