Fylde and Wyre milkmen delivering some community spirit amidst the coronavirus lockdown

Over Wyre, milk delivery company, Wyre and Fylde Doorstep Deliveries Ltd has seen a surge in new customers who are vulnerable and have been passed local food delivery details by the NHS.
It has also seen an increase in orders from current customers after panic-buying hit the supermarkets and staples such as milk and bread were hard to source.

Hide AdThe family-run firm by Mark Stephenson and his nephew, Andrew Stewart, has been busy delivering to customers across the Knott End, Preesall, Out Rawcliffe, Stalmine areas, bringing in extra staff and working 18-hour days to complete deliveries and orders.
Mark Stephenson said: “During this awful situation with the COVID-19 outbreak, the community effort of pulling together to make sure residents have everything that they need and to know that there are people out there willing to help, is phenomenal.
"We’re just glad we can help with deliveries of essentials to people who are isolated through being vulnerable or unwell, while keeping them safe indoors.
“We’ve come to know our customers really well over the years – the large number of which are elderly, so we’ve been checking on many of them and making sure they’re aware of the fast-paced news and changes in government advice.

Hide Ad“We have come across a few that hadn’t even heard of the pandemic, so weren’t aware that they should have been self-isolating.
“The community solidarity is heartwarming and the message to stay safe and stay at home seems to be getting through for the most part.”
